model, hmua & wardorobe | PENNY RENEÀ

Penny Reneà started modeling just a short while ago. The multi-talented model and stylist has enjoyed modeling and has dedicated herself to it and has vowed to even go to another level.

Recently, she has become a brand ambassador for us... yes Prolific Quarterly and has gotten a position with H.Couture as a face for the brand. Here, she talks about all this and more, letting us into the life of the "Queen of the Second Phase", Penny Reneà.

First off tell us how you were "discovered" and how your modeling career all started?

A young man reached out to me on IG to ask permission to follow me, I said of course, then he asked me if I was really 49. I said yes and I was going to be turning 50 in a few months. He asked what I was doing for my birthday and I told him I hope to be doing a photoshoot. I had been working very hard in the gym and I was really proud of where I was in my fitness journey. Turns out he had just graduated college and majored in Video/Photography and asked if he could shoot me. I said yes, of course, lol I had no clue what I was doing but the pictures were okay, definitely not my best work. However, a friend of mine suggested I put them on Model Mayham so I did and then more and more photographers started asking me to shoot and here I am 2 and half years still shooting and I love it!

What has been your favorite shoot / campaign / work to date?

Oh wow, that’s a hard one…. I love so many. Each one is different and unique in its own way. Also, I feel like as I continue to learn and grow my photos continue to get better.

How would you describe your personal style, Where do you pull your inspiration from?

Trendy but with Penny style, meaning I like to adjust the trends to fit my age and body shape that I work so hard for. Check out my social media, drop some comments and let me know your thoughts on my style.

Do you have any hidden talents?

Lol, yes I do. I love doing to home improvement projects, I’m pretty good with power tools.

Do you get to travel a lot for your work?

No I don’t but I’m hoping that will be changing. I would love to visit my favorite city which is Seattle for many reasons. One, it’s absolutely beautiful and two I secretly love it because it was there that I found an amazing doctor after six years of illness that discovered my brain tumor and saved my life.

Is modeling an easy job or more strenuous than people realize?

It’s easy in the since that it’s fun. But is strenuous, we walk, climb, jump, run, etc. and sometimes you’re shooting for five to six hours at a time, it can be exhausting but I still love it!

Favorite movie?

I honestly don’t have an all-time favorite, I love so many. I’m definitely a Marvel fan! I love Wonder Woman!

Five things you can't live without?

Coffee, gym, my family (children & grandchildren), my dog and my phone.

Was modeling something you always wanted to do, or did it just kinda happen?

I wanted to do it when I was younger around 10 but it didn’t happen and I never really gave it much thought. Then at 49 it just kinda happened.

What's your favorite band / music at the moment?

Again, I don’t have a favorite. I listen to techno in the gym, it gets my heart pumping. I love Rap, Hip Hop, Top 40, etc.

Give us 5 facts about you people may not know.

I’m a mom of six and grandmother to eight. I’m a home body and a loner. I need one day a week to do absolutely nothing, otherwise I get really grouchy. I used to weigh 210lbs. I’m a brain tumor survivor and I battle an autonomic disorder daily, its called Dysautonomia. I truly believe fitness saved my life.

What's the best and worst thing about being a model?

Meeting new people, seeing new places, beautiful photos, you get to wear beautiful clothes, I love playing dress up, lol The worst is when you work really hard only to be disappointed with the finished product. I’ve found out the hard way a few times that not everyone with an expensive camera is a photographer.
